Admission Test
Along with personal information and letters of recommendation, each applicant must take one of the three admission tests. The admission test is the student's opportunity to demonstrate the willingness to explore advanced mathematics topics and the ability to tackle challenging, non-routine problems. It is not only the raw test score that matters but the love of mathematics that becomes transparent in the student's application.
You may look over a sample admission test and solutions, representative of the hardest questions that might appear on an actual admission test.
These tests will be posted online, and students will be given ten days to write up their solutions. The solutions must then be submitted online, or shipped by mail/FedEx/UPS/DHL no later than the indicated postmark deadline.
The first test will be given Feb. 2-12, 2007.
The second test was given Mar. 30 - Apr. 9, 2007.
The third test was given May 4-14, 2007.
Parent's Statement (optional)
Please write to us addressing the following questions.
1. Please describe your child's academic interests, strengths and weaknesses.
2. Please describe you child's personal strengths and weaknesses.
3. How do you think your child will adapt to the challenges of living away from home in a dormitory?
4. How do you think you child will responde tho this intense academic program?
5. Is there anything you would like us to know about your child?
There is a application fee of $50 ($30 for processing the application materials, and $20 for grading the admission test). If a student wants to take a second test (if time allows and spots are still available), an additional $20 will be charged.
Any questions about the application process should be directed to Dr. Titu Andreescu. Contact information is available here.
