About AwesomeMath Academy

AwesomeMath Academy was founded in 2014 to give talented students the opportunity to explore mathematics, physics, and chemistry beyond the school curriculum. The focus of all our courses is problem solving in a collaborative environment so that students can not only excel in competitions, but also learn the skills necessary to excel in STEM careers.

Why is our program unique?

The Academy offers a personalized and customized experience with easy access to instructors for support and encouragement. Many enrichment centers focus on teaching speed and accuracy to solve math exercises, and not math problems. Further, their curriculum can be static and not evolve with progressively more challenging competitions.

Many enrichment centers focus on accelerated curriculum, teaching speed and accuracy to solve math exercises, and not math problems.

  • Our program utilizes a dynamic curriculum that evolves as competitions get more difficult. This means hiring staff who have the expertise to teach the latest techniques and understand the types of problems utilized in today’s competitions.
  • Our program focuses on problem solving. We are teaching our students how to think by providing the tools for how to approach problems in math, physics, and chemistry.
  • Our classes are taught by exemplary instructors who have specialized experience and education in their field and more importantly in STEM competitions.
  • Mastery over grades. Since we provide a supportive environment with a dynamic curriculum, students are able to tackle problems outside their comfort zone and can therefore quickly build skills, confidence, and test scores!
  • Learn discrete mathematics, the math of modern computing, through math competition training.
What students should expect when attending our program?
  • Challenging curriculum that will provoke students to think deeply and broadly
  • Carefully chosen problems that can be solved in many different ways
  • Exposure to
    – Algebra, geometry, combinatorics and number theory in our mathematics courses
    – Classical mechanics with our Physics Level 1 and 2 courses and all of physics in our Physics Level 3 course
    – General, physical, organic, and analytical chemistry in our Chemistry course
  • Learning how to problem solve from instructors with a passion for what they teach
  • Inspiration and perspiration that comes with the struggle and growth from solving elegant problems
  • Access to critical problems featured on American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) from AMC8 (Plano location) to AMC 10/12 through to AIME (online) as well as the F=MA competition for Physics (online) and the Local Chemistry Olympiad competition (online). Students scoring well on AIME and interested in progressing to USA(J)MO levels to IMO levels, should explore the AwesomeMath Year-Round program (online)
  • Meaningful interaction with peers that share the same interest and love for mathematics and STEM fields, in general
  • Overall unique experience that no other local enrichment program can provide with personalized and customized curriculum designed so each individual can succeed in today’s more difficult contests

PLEASE NOTE: AwesomeMath Academy courses are designed to supplement and reinforce the training students receive through self study or in their school competition math programs as well as helps prepare students for the rigors they will encounter in the AwesomeMath Summer Program. Each math course is designed to be taken for a minimum of two semesters in order to cover the material/topics necessary to move up to the next level course.

Did you know?
  • Founder, Dr. Titu Andreescu, is a professor at University of Texas at Dallas and created the Math Rocks program in Plano
  • Dr. Andreescu coached the US International Mathematics team the first year the US earned a perfect score (1994) and was the coach for the current IMO leader
  • Our program provides preparation for the AMC tests and many colleges that value STEM are asking for AMC test scores along with SAT/ACT results
  • Dr. Andreescu was the director for the AMC Math Competitions for 8 years
  • Our students learn Discrete Mathematics (the math of modern computing) topics such as Number Theory and Counting/Probability (Combinatorics)
  • Unlike other enrichment programs, AwesomeMath Academy focuses on developing our students’ individual strengths through problem solving as opposed to using a top down curriculum or rubric
  • Academy instructors have extensive competition math experience and are selected based on their exemplary reviews from teaching at the AwesomeMath Summer Program
