Program Overview
Why should I participate in the AwesomeMath Academy?
Students who want to improve their scores in mathematics, physics or chemistry competitions can benefit from taking our Academy classes that are taught by exemplary and experienced instructors. Those students who are looking for challenges outside school curriculum can also benefit from outstanding teaching, rigorous and challenging curriculum. Participants in the academy will strengthen their problem solving skills thus contributing to their preparation for STEM careers.
How is the AwesomeMath Academy Unique?
The Academy offers a personalized and customized experience with easy access to math and science academy instructors for support and encouragement. Our live, instructor-led, virtual classes are taught once per weekend for each 12-week semester.
- Our program utilizes a dynamic curriculum that evolves as competitions get more difficult. This means hiring staff who have the expertise to teach the latest techniques and understand the types of problems utilized in today’s competitions.
- Our program focuses on problem-solving. We are teaching our STEM academy students how to think by providing the tools for how to approach problems in math, physics, and chemistry.
- Our courses are taught by exemplary instructors who have specialized experience and education in their field and more importantly in STEM competitions.
- Mastery over grades. Since we provide a supportive environment with a dynamic curriculum, students are able to tackle problems outside their comfort zone and can therefore quickly build skills, confidence, and test scores!
- Learn discrete mathematics, the math of modern computing, through math competition training.

- Founder, Dr. Titu Andreescu, is a professor at the University of Texas at Dallas and created the Math Rocks program in Plano
- Dr. Andreescu coached the US International Mathematics team the first year the US earned a perfect score (1994) and was the coach for the current IMO leader

What should students expect with our program?
The Academy offers a personalized and customized experience with easy access to math and science academy instructors for support and encouragement. Our live, instructor-led, virtual courses are taught once per weekend for each 12-week semester.

- Access to critical problems featured on American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) from AMC8 to AMC 10/12 through to AIME as well as the F=MA competition for Physics and the Local Chemistry Olympiad competition
- Meaningful interaction with peers that share the same interest and love for mathematics and STEM fields
PLEASE NOTE: AwesomeMath Academy courses are designed to supplement and reinforce the training students receive through self-study and helps prepare students for the rigors they will encounter in the AwesomeMath Summer Program. Each course is designed to be taken for a minimum of two semesters in order to cover the material/topics necessary to move up to the next level course.
What is the age range of participating students?
The age range is 5th to 12th grade students.
Who can participate in the Academy courses?
Any student who has a desire to go beyond school curriculum and improve their problem-solving skills.
Do you offer courses to prepare for specific math/physics competitions?
Most of our courses focus on a curriculum prevalent in math/physics/chemistry competitions.
Do you offer in-person courses or are they all online (virtual)?
We only offer online courses.
Do you offer trial classes?
We do not offer trial classes, but we provide a lot of information about courses on our website so families can make informed decisions before they sign up. Please see our refund policy before and after classes start. We welcome questions about the Academy at any time.
Tuition Rates/Refund Policy
What does the program cost?
Competition courses are $595 for 12 teaching weeks (90 minutes classes). All teaching materials are included in the cost of tuition.
Are there any tuition discounts offered?
Receive a 10% discount if you enroll for 2 or more courses, in the same purchase, by August 31, 2023. Discount will be applied automatically during the checkout process and cannot be combined with other discounts. The following examples would qualify for the discount:
- Two different courses (e.g. Physics and Math)
- Two siblings enrolling for Academy courses
- One course in the Fall semester and one course in the Spring semester
Do you offer financial aid for the Academy program?
We do not offer financial aid, but we offer discounts. Please see the tuition page.
How do I pay for Academy courses?
You enroll in the desired course(s), add them to your cart, and press the “Pay” button.
When do I pay for Academy courses?
Enroll and pay anytime before the semester starts but keep in mind some courses fill up so the sooner you secure your spot, the better. We keep enrollment open for three weeks after the start of each semester. Please see our important deadlines page for more details.
Will you pro-rate tuition if I sign up after the semester begins?
We do not pro-rate tuition. Students have access to the recordings of live classes and teaching materials once they are enrolled in a course. In addition, students can contact the instructor if they have any questions about the classes they have missed.
What is your refund policy?
A request to cancel enrollment in an AwesomeMath Academy class should be sent to alina@awesomemath.org. A refund will be processed within 10 business days of receiving the request to withdrawal. If the refund request is received more than one week before the start of the first class the refund amount is the tuition paid less a 5% administrative fee and any discounts received. If the refund request is received less than a week before the start of the class, the refund amount will depend on when the request is received, and according to the table below:

NOTE: The refund amounts per the table above are calculated based on the full price of tuition. Actual amounts refunded will reflect any discounts applied.
We do not offer credit toward future semesters if a student is unable to complete the duration of their online course.
Enrollment & Participation Questions
Am I required to purchase any books or teaching materials in order to participate?
You are not required to purchase any books. Instructors will give students access to hand-outs, problem sets and additional resources for their courses. There are suggested books for the courses we offer that will help the enhance students’ knowledge.
How many times per week do students attend a live, instructor-led class?
Students meet once per weekend. Please see each semester’s schedule here.
Am I required to enroll in both the Fall and Spring semesters?
It is highly recommended that you attend both Fall and Spring Semesters for math courses. Fall and Spring Physics Semester courses are identical, covering the same areas and the same problems.
Are your lectures recorded and if so, when are they available for viewing?
All lectures are recorded and available with 24 hours of the class’s end time.
When can I enroll for Fall and Spring semesters courses?
Please refer to our current enrollment periods.
What if I choose a course that is too easy or too hard?
We allow students to switch levels. However, course changes should be done at the beginning of the semester. Please email your requests to alina@awesomemath.org.
How will I access the course, platform, communicate with my instructor, submit homework, etc.?
- Click here to read more about the online platforms we use for Awesomemath Academy.
- 3 days before your first class, we will email you your Google Classroom class code(s) and additional instructions on how to participate
- Go to https://classroom.google.com/ and click on the + in the upper right hand corner.
- Choose join class and enter you Google class code from the email.
- To get your Zoom Meeting ID and password, click on the
icon in the bottom right corner of the course header.
- Once you have your Zoom Meeting ID and password, you need to download the Zoom application on your computer or smartphone.
What are the software and hardware requirements to participate?
- Good Internet connection
- Laptop/desktop computer
- Google email account
- Latest version of Zoom
What happens if I am unable to attend a class? What is your attendance and makeup policy?
We record all lessons, which are available on Google Classroom within 24 hours of class’s end time so that students can view the lessons they missed, or if they want to review the content of a specific class.
