AwesomeMath Summer Program – Announcements

AwesomeMath Summer Program Update

Logo

Dear Students and Parents,

We hope this message finds you and your family well. After a lot of thinking, we know that the right decision was to cancel all in-person camps this summer. The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our number one priority and we cannot in good conscience hold any in-person camp with what we do and do not know about the coronavirus. All families of students accepted at the in-person sessions at UT Dallas, Cornell, and the Univ. of Puget Sound were notified via email about the next steps.
COMING SOON!
AwesomeMath Summer Program ONLINE! Full details of this program will be announced on our website April 15th. Please hold off on asking us for more information until after April 15th. Students interested in participating in the online program must first be accepted.

Please follow the steps as outlined on How to Apply. Test C will be available on April 10th. The deadline to apply for this program is April 26th. Students will be notified of our admission decision on or before April 30th.
Thank you for your continued patience and support!

Changes to AMSP 2020 Application Process, Payment Deadline & Refund Policy

Logo

Dear AwesomeMath Applicants and Parents,

We would like to give you another update on the actions we are taking regarding COVID-19.  We understand that with schools closures it may be difficult to obtain recommendation letters from your teachers. Therefore, we will waive the the two-recommendation letter requirement effective immediately. In lieu of recommendation letters, all applicants will be required to submit a parent's statement.

How to Apply Changes* - Effective March 17, 2020

STEP 1: CREATE A STUDENT ACCOUNT
All applicants must have an AwesomeMath student account before applying to the Summer Program. Once activated, you will receive a 9-digit unique identification number (UIN) which you will use throughout the application process.

STEP 2: COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION FORM
After creating and activating your student account, you will log in to your student dashboard and complete the online application form.  A student's answers to essay prompts should be thorough.

STEP 3: SUBMIT A PARENT’S STATEMENT*
The Parent’s Statement is now mandatory for all students. Instructions for completing the Parent’s Statement will be provided on your student dashboard.

STEP 4: TAKE THE ADMISSIONS TEST
Download the current admissions test and submit your solutions by the stated deadline (Test B deadline is March 23, 2020). The admission test is a pdf file that you will download to your computer. Students will log into their Student Dashboard to access and download the test(s).

*Above changes apply to New Student applicants.  The application process for returning/previously accepted students and USA(J)MO qualifiers has not changed.

Regular Admission Payment Deadline Extended to April 24, 2020

The payment deadline has been extended by two weeks to April 24, 2020.

Refund Policy Changes - Effective March 17, 2020

If the host university where your child will attend does NOT cancel our camp then a request to cancel enrollment in the AwesomeMath Summer Program should be emailed to admin@awesomemath.org.

If the host university where your child will attend cancels our camp before it starts students can choose from the following options:

Option 1 - All currently enrolled students who have paid their tuition can request in writing to receive a FULL REFUND.

Option 2 - Students who do NOT request a refund can elect to receive a full tuition credit for the 2021 Summer Program.  In other words, your admission for the 2021 summer program will be automatic and guaranteed and your tuition rate will be locked in at 2020 prices.

Option 3 - Students can choose to attend one of our online Summer Sessions at a reduced tuition rate.  The plan is that all levels offered at camp would be taught online (multiple sessions would be offered) in a format not yet finalized.  Families would receive a partial refund.  The details of this are still being worked out and will be communicated in detail in the event one or all camp sessions must be cancelled.

AwesomeMath reserves the right to cancel one or more camp sessions before the camp starts
AwesomeMath reserves the right to cancel a camp at any time (due to low enrollment or for any other unforeseen reason). If AwesomeMath cancels one or more camp sessions, students will be notified as soon as possible and will be able to select from the following options:

Option 1 -  All currently enrolled students who have paid their tuition can request in writing to receive a FULL REFUND.

Option 2 - Students who do NOT request a refund can elect to receive a full tuition credit for the 2021 Summer Program.  In other words, your admission for the 2021 summer program will be automatic and guaranteed and your tuition rate will be locked in at 2020 prices.

AwesomeMath Summer Program Update Regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Logo

Dear AwesomeMath Families,

With the heightened awareness and public concern regarding the spread of the conoravirus (COVID-19), we want to assure you that we are carefully monitoring the situation. We are continuing to follow the guidelines of the CDC as student safety is a top priority for us.

We reached out to our host universities and as of right now, there is no plan to cancel or adjust their summer camp/conference schedules. Therefore, we will move forward with the assumption that the 2020 AwesomeMath Summer programs will take place as scheduled. We will continue to accept applications and admit students according to our stated deadlines.

In the event we need to cancel the camps (we hope that this will not happen), we are developing options for our families so that they can choose what is best for them. Some of the options being considered are a revised tuition refund policy, next year tuition credit and online summer classes.

We will also work closely with our host universities in the coming weeks and months to ensure we have the appropriate measures in place to respond appropriately to any issues that may arise during camp. Our contingency plan and protocols for ensuring the health and safety of our participants will be communicated as appropriate.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Best wishes and stay healthy!

Test B is available for download starting March 6, 2020 (12:00 AM CST)

Logo

Dear AwesomeMath Applicants,

This message is to remind you that Test B will be available March 6 - March 23, 2020. Students will log in to their Student Dashboard to access and download the test. The admission test is a PDF file that you will download to your computer.

A few Important Instructions and Reminders for you to think about as you work through the test questions:

  • This test is for students taking our Level 1 classes up through Level 3, so the test accommodates different ages and experience and is evaluated accordingly.
  • We want you to have a positive and successful experience at our camps, therefore when submitting solutions your work should be yours and yours alone. The purpose of the test is to ensure that you are placed in classes that fit your level and skills. If you consult outside resources (other people or online), then you are compromising your ability to succeed in our challenging program.
  • Do not be discouraged if you cannot solve all of the questions. We want to see the solutions you come up with no matter how many problems you solve. Some of the problems involve complex mathematical ideas, but all can be solved using only elementary techniques, admittedly combined in clever ways.
  • Include all significant steps in your reasoning and computation. We are interested in your ability to present your work, so unsupported answers will receive much less credit than well-reasoned progress towards a solution without a correct answer.
  • You may handwrite or type your solutions. If you type your solutions, your cover and answer sheets should still include the same information as shown on the test packet answer sheets (9-digit UIN, First and Last Name, Problem #, etc.)
DEADLINE SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
  • Make sure the TEST COVER SHEET is the first page of your submission, and that it is completely filled out.
  • Email your solutions to admissions@awesomemath.org
  • The Subject Line of your email should be written in the following format: Test B Solutions, First Name, Last Name, UIN#.  Example:  Test B Solutions, Jane Doe, UIN 123456789
  • Please submit your solutions as a single pdf document.  Attaching multiple pages or separate jpg, png pages will delay the processing of your submissions

Lastly, please remember your application is not considered complete until ALL required steps of How to Apply are submitted/completed. You can track the status of your application on your Student Dashboard. You will also get a confirmation email from us when your application is complete and under review. Applicants with completed applications will be informed of our admission decision by March 27, 2020.
